ABOUT THE ARTIST

Al Gord is known for his rock and roll–inspired paintings, as well as works featuring iconic cultural figures. His distinctive style, described as Industrial Renegade Pop Mixology, blends a wide range of techniques. Drawing inspiration from legendary artists, Al's work fuses elements of abstract art, portraiture, pop art, street art, graffiti, expressionism, and mixed media. Through a dynamic balance of these styles, he conveys the raw energy and emotion of his subjects, capturing symbolic moments and iconic imagery with intensity and depth.

Al returned to painting during a difficult period in his life. This reconnection with his creative roots led him to experiment with various techniques and themes. In 2015, he completed his first rock star portrait—a tribute to the legendary Jimi Hendrix—which marked the beginning of a new artistic chapter.

Since then, his work has been featured in numerous art publications and exhibited in shows across North America and Europe.

ABOUT THE ART

THE PURPOSE:

Al's paintings serve as a heartfelt tribute to the music, musicians, and cultural icons who have deeply influenced his life and the lives of many others. Through his work, he strives to craft an immersive, interactive experience—one that stirs emotion, sparks curiosity, invites introspection, and challenges perception. Each piece tells a story, drawing the viewer into a visual narrative. At its core, Al’s art reintroduces legendary figures and music into our lives in a bold, distinctive way—fine art created for the rebel soul.

THE PAINTING:

Al’s art goes beyond honoring rock 'n' roll legends and rebel icons—it digs into the stories that made them. His work unpacks the spark behind the music, the struggles and victories that shaped the artist, and the cultural shockwaves that followed. Each piece captures more than a moment—it captures a legacy. Layered with hidden symbols and Easter eggs, his paintings are rich with meaning for those who look closer. Al invites the viewer to explore, question, and connect—turning every canvas into a conversation and every legend into something personal.

THE BRAND:

To protect his work and make each piece unmistakably his, Al embeds his signature directly into the artwork—ditching the traditional bottom-right corner signature. Hidden within every painting is also his trademark symbol: a bold “G” outfitted with horns and a tail. It’s a nod to his love of rock—once infamously dubbed “The Devil’s Music”—and a clever play on his last name, Gord, evoking the idea of being “gored.” These elements aren't just marks of authorship—they’re part of the story, woven into the fabric of each piece.

THE TITLE:

The title of each piece may not seem that significant, but it’s often the key to unlocking the whole story. Each inspiration and starting point for a painting is a lyric, a song title, or a quote that captures the essence of the subject—the raw emotion Al feels toward them. From there, he crafts an image that pulls the viewer straight into that state of mind. The title isn’t just a label—it’s the final link that seals the emotional bond between the art and its audience.
